It Was a Christmas for the Mazda

I am not sure how much Mazda engineers considered rallycross when they designed the 3rd generation Mazda3. In fact, I don’t think it would be a stretch to say that they most likely didn’t consider it at all.

Of course, what the engineers had in mind didn’t stop me from using the Mazda as my primary rallycross car in 2018. While it did remarkably well (a testament to its surprising agility and propensity to rotate) it did suffer some battle scars along the way. Almost every single tab on the front bumper was broken, the paint was worn, and perhaps most embarrassingly, there were a couple of cracks in the plastic.

Since the BMW will be taking over all racing duties (both in rallycross and in track/autocross events) I decided it was right time to bring the Mazda back in shape. And so, I ordered sway bar links, a front bumper, and lowering springs (one of the rear coils was broken, and this was something on my mind for a while, anyway).

Stay tuned for a pictures update!
